A larger Cleveland suburb, Beachwood has a population of about 12,000 and covers approximately 5.3 square miles.  Beachwood has grown continually since it gained  ‘city’ status in 1960, implementing community planning that concentrates commercial development in specific areas while allowing for continued development of single family and condo units totaling over 5000. In 2011, University Hospitals Ahuja Medical Center is scheduled to open, bringing more jobs and state of the art health services to Beachwood and surrounding suburbs.
